A. General
I.) Choithram Hospital & Research Centre is a 350-bed multidisciplinary
reputed modern institution of Central India, which is dedicated to
patient care as well as academics. It has modern diagnostics and
treatment facilities to provide training to doctors, nurses, and
paramedics. It is recognized for DNB training by National Board of
Examinations (NBE), for M. Sc. and B.Sc. (Nursing) by Nursing Council of
India and Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidhyalay (DAVV) Indore, for Ph.D. by
D.A.V.V. and for several other courses by Paramedical Council of MP &
DAVV. It has dedicated & experienced teaching staff, organized regular academic calendar, modern teaching aids,
library, and other facilities.
II.). The Hospital is recognized for DNB training in several subjects.
The examinations for award of DNB degree (which is equivalent to
MS/MD/DM/M.Ch etc.) are conducted nationally by National Board of
Examinations. The rules and regulations of eligibility for training and
for appearing in examination are same as decided by NBE.
III.) Only those candidates who have passed MBBS, completed one-year
internship and passed CET will be registered for DNB training in broad
specialties. Candidates who have passed MD/ MS will be eligible for
registration in super specialties if they clear SS-CET. Candidates who
have passed postgraduate diploma (DCH, DGO, DA, D.Orth) are also
registered for DNB training for two years. Postgraduate / Diploma
holders need not pass CET.
IV.) In all 68 students have passed DNB from our institution. ( 22 in
pediatrics, 15 in Obs Gynae, 11 in surgery 10 in medicine, 5 in
anesthesia, 2 in neurology, 2 in gastroenterology and 1 in orthopaedics.
) . In addition 30 candidates have passed DNB final theory and are
waiting to appear in the final practical exams.
B. Number of Seats
1. Following seats are recognized by NBE in various departments.
Anesthesiology 4 (Two Primary & 2 Diploma)
Obst & Gynae 4 (Two Primary & 2 Diploma)
Paediatrics 4 (Two Primary & 2 Diploma)
Surgery 2 (Primary)
Medicine 3 (Primary)
Orthopaedics 2 (One Primary & 1 Diploma)
Gastroenterology 2 (Post MD)
Pediatric Intensive care 1 (Post MD)
Neurology 1 (Post MD)
2) For the session July 2010 counseling will be held for intake of
candidates in the following four departments.
Anesthesiology
Obst & Gynae
Paediatrics
Surgery
Management reserves the right to take candidates as per their need &
requirement which may be less than the number recognized by NBE.
Management also reserves the right to admit sponsored candidates who
fulfill the requirement as per NBE guidelines.
3) Candidate for fellowship in pediatric critical care (post MD) will be
registered in Sept. 2010. Super Specialty candidate in neurology,
gastroenterology and PGFNBE fellowship in pediatric critical care and
PGFNBE in critical care medicine will be registered in Jan – Feb.2011
after they clear SS-CET.
C. Application and Selection Process
1) Application form and bulletin of information can be obtained in
person or by post by paying Rs.500 /- in cash or by DD in favor of 'Choithram
Hospital and Research Centre' payable at Indore. Only the numbered
application forms obtained from the hospital will be entertained. If you
use an application form downloaded from the hospital website, kindly pay
Rs 500/- (in cash or by D/D as above) while submitting the application
form otherwise the form will not be numbered and processed.
2) Forms and fees have to be filled separately for different subjects.
3) Fully filled application forms should reach office of Director
Academics by 15th July 2010. Forms can be submitted up to 21th July 2010
with a late fee of Rs. 500/-. Incomplete forms are likely to be
rejected.
Please enter your contact address, phone number, email
address, fax number etc carefully in the application form for sending
information and establishing quick contact, when necessary.
4) The CET passed candidate shall report at 9.00 AM on 22th July 2010 in
hospital auditorium (near College of Nursing in hospital campus) for
counseling. Diploma holders should report at 11 am on 22th July 2010 in
hospital auditorium. No separate call will be sent. No TA/ DA will be
paid. Please note the date & timing carefully & report in time.
5) Merit list preparation
(A) CET passed candidates - as per the CET marks
(B) Diploma candidates: - This will be prepared as follows
(a) 70 % weight age to performance in MBBS and diploma exam. This
performance shall be calculated as follows
Marks obtained in MBBS exams of all professionals (out of 70) minus
number of extra attempts in each profession and PG degree/ diploma exam
(b) 30 % weight age to performance in interview.
(c) The interview panel shall consist of subject specialists. Identity
of candidates will be concealed during interview. Approaching interview
panel members in any way is forbidden & may result is disqualification
of candidate
6) Counseling will be done as per the merit list and the candidates will
be able to choose the subject in order of merit. After the seats are
filled, candidates will be kept in the waiting list. If a candidate
fails to attend the interview or counseling, does not accept available
seat, or does not deposit the fees, he/she will lose his/her claim and
the seat will be offered to the next candidate in order of merit. Once
the seat has been accepted by, and allotted to other candidate, no
representation of any sort will be entertained.
7) Candidates can appear for counseling in different subjects provided
they have filled the application form and paid the fees for the subjects
separately. If a candidate has accepted and paid fees for a seat in a
particular subject and then opts for another seat, (in which a vacancy
is created) his/her admission fees will be transferred for that subject.
Fees once deposited cannot be refunded.
8) As time given by NBE for filling the vacancies is very short the
vacancy will be announced and call will be put up in the office of
Director Academics. If the called candidate, who shall be according to
merit from waiting list, does not join & deposit the fees within 72
hours, he/she will lose his/her chance and the next candidate will be
called. While attempts shall be made to contact the called candidate by
phone, email, or fax, it shall be the responsibility of the candidate to
watch the notice board which will be updated every day. No
representation for “the call not received” etc. shall be entertained.
The above procedure is being followed to ensure that vacancy is filled
in time and does not lapse.
9) The waiting lists shall be valid for July 2010 session only and as
per time schedule given by NBE.
10) The decision of the selection committee will be final and binding on
all matters.
11) Candidates will be required to join within two weeks of selection at
counseling.
D. Documents
1. Affix / paste stamp a passport size self photograph in a place
provided on application form & sign across.
2. Photocopies of the following documents must be attached with the
application form. The originals of these must be brought for
verification during interview and counseling; failing which the
application is liable to be rejected.
(a) For CET pass candidates
MBBS - Mark sheets of all university exams covering all subjects along
with attempts certificate.
Internship completion certificate plus MBBS degree and permanent
registration with Medical Council of India/State medical Council
DNB primary / CET examination pass certificate with mark sheet.
MBBS Recognition Certificate from head of the Institution.
(b) Diploma pass candidates.
Mark sheets of all university MBBS exams covering all subjects along
with attempts certificate,
MBBS degree & permanent registration with medical council
Diploma pass certificate, mark sheets, university diploma certificate,
attempt certificate and Recognition Certificate for MBBS and Diploma
3 MBBS degree and certificate of registration with medical council
should be made available as early as possible. Registration with MP
Medical Council is compulsory before residency begins.
4 If a candidate has applied in anticipation of pass result in
qualifying exam and was unable to get the pass result by the time of
submission of application, the pass result must be submitted before
interview. Failing this the candidate will not be interviewed. The
selection committee reserves the right to conduct interview for these
candidates as per procedure laid down and then subsequently put their
names in counselling waiting list as per their merit subject to their
submitting the pass result.
E. Deposits & Refunds
1 All those who accept a DNB seat during counseling in any subject /
category will have to immediately deposit the tuition fees of Rs.
50,000/- (non refundable) + registration fees of Rs. 30,000/-
(refundable) by cash or DD in favor of 'Choithram Hospital & Research
Centre' payable at Indore. If they do not make this deposit the seat
will be offered to the next candidate. If a candidate does not wish to
pay the registration fees then he/she will have to submit all original
certificates which will be kept with the hospital. These will be
returned to the candidate only after successful completion of the DNB
course. If a candidate leaves the course in between, then original
certificates will be handed over only after having necessary deposit
(Rs. 30,000/-).
Of the Rs. 30,000/- DNB training registration deposit, 10,000 Rs. will
be refunded on satisfactory completion of the training and submission of
thesis and sending a paper based on thesis for publication. Further
10,000 Rs. will be refunded when candidate passes DNB final theory exam
and last 10,000/- Rs. on passing practical final DNB exams. Necessary
documentary evidence must be submitted while requesting for refund.
2 If a candidate shifts to another subject within our institution when a
vacancy arises (within the time frame as per NBE guidelines) his/her
deposits will be adjusted against that subject.
F. Training Fee
The Hospital Academic Wing gives extra attention and provides special
training facilities for all trainees. This includes regular teaching,
close supervision, periodic evaluation, upgraded library, internet
facilities, interdepartmental sessions, community camps and consessional
admission & treatment of patients of DNB training interest, etc.
Separate office is maintained for smooth running of DNB training
programme, record keeping, correspondence etc. Teachers are given
administrative responsibilities and designations. Teachers are also paid
extra for teaching sessions. Our aim is to prepare the candidate for
success in exams as well. Training fee of Rs. 50,000/- per year
(inclusive of hostel fees) and Rs 40,000/- per year (without hostel
facility) is charged as per NBE guidelines. Training fee shall be
deposited at joining & in July every year without fail. If candidate
leaves in between, training fee will not be refunded.
G. Stipend & Facilities
All DNB trainees are provided stipend & facilities. Stipend inclusive of
duty money is Rs. 22,000/-, Rs. 23,000/-, and Rs. 24,000/- per month for
1st year, 2nd year, and 3rd year respectively for Primary candidates.
For post diploma candidates it is Rs 23,000/- and 24,000/- during 1st &
2nd year of training respectively. For post MD /MS/ DNB (Super
Specialty) candidates it is Rs. 24,000, per month
1. Hostel facilities: - Shared accommodation for single candidates is
available on a first come first served basis. Married accommodation is
not provided.
2. Leave facilities: - Hospital holidays, 20 casual leave per year are
provided as per rules. Leave in excess of the same shall be considered
leave without pay / stipend.
H. Training Period
1. The candidates are required to do clinical work, maintain records,
perform emergency duties, and shoulder various responsibilities. They
will be posted by rotation at various places. They are also required to
participate in academic meetings and present cases, reviews, seminars
etc. Their work, knowledge, and skills will be periodically evaluated.
It is important to show satisfactory performance on all fronts.
2. A DNB trainee can avail 20 days in a calendar year. Inn addition,
female trainees may be permitted a Maternity leave not exceeding 90 days
once during the entire duration of the course, while Male candidates may
be allowed Paternity leave of One week. No kind of Study leave is
permissible to DNB trainees. However, trainees may be allowed an
academic leave of 14 days across the three years trainees programme to
attend Conferences / Seminars only. Under normal circumstances leave of
one year should not be a carried forward to the next year, however, in
exceptional cases like prolonged illness or any meritorious grounds, the
leave across the training programme may be clubbed together. Any other
leave other than the above is not permissible and shall lead to the
extension of the course.
I. Registration & Other Formalities with NBE
NBE issues instructions from time to time, which should be followed. It
is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that these formalities
are completed in the time schedule given. The hospital on its part shall
provide full cooperation. Some of the current rules are given below
1. Candidates are required to join within specified period.
2. The candidate should apply for registration with NBE in prescribed
proforma within one month of joining.
3. Thesis protocol should be submitted to NBE for approval within 3
months of joining.
4. Thesis should be sent to NBE for acceptance 6 months prior to final
exams.
5. Logbook should be maintained as prescribed and completed logbook
should be shown at the time of final practical examinations.
6. The candidate should periodically see the NBE website
<www.natboard.nic.in> for their registration no., thesis protocol
approval, roll number, thesis acceptance, results etc. and download &
preserve information concerning these. They should also see the website
for new rules and for changes in rules that may be applicable to them.
NBE bulletins, which are published 6 monthly, should also be consulted
for this.
7. If a candidate fails to follow NBE rules & formalities, he will be
responsible for the consequences and not the hospital.
J. Hospital Rules & Formalities: -
1. Discipline & congenial behavior with patients, attendants, & hospital
staff is of utmost importance.
2. Wrong claim for extra duty money, taking leave without permission
will attract severe disciplinary action.
3. All correspondences with NBE should be routed through the hospital &
a copy provided for student record file. Similarly a copy of
correspondence received from NBE should be provided.
4. Thesis protocol shall be prepared under the guidance of the Guide. It
shall then be reviewed by three hospital reviewers, at least one of
which shall be from the department. The protocol along with the
recommendations of the reviewers should be submitted to research
committee chairman for approval. The thesis protocol should not be sent
to NBE or work on thesis started without formal permission letter from
research committee chairman.
5. A paper based on thesis must be sent for publication before training
will be considered complete.
6. Hospital timings should be carefully observed. Students shall reach
the venue of academic meeting five minutes before the given academic
meeting time.
7. Attendance of above 75% should be maintained in academic meetings.
8. Attendance as well as monthly evaluation / exam marks should also be
entered in the logbook and counter- signature obtained monthly.
9. Defaulters are liable for disciplinary action.
K. General rules
1. Extra leaves, absenteeism etc. will have to repeated in order to get
completion certificate. Proper permission will be required for the same.
Also a fee of Rs. 2000/- for 15 days or part there of shall be charged.
2. Fines shall be deducted from stipends directly.
3. Deptt shall recommend facilitative / or deterrent/ measures /actions.
If concurred by the management, the same shall be implemented. The
management can independently assess & take action in consultation with
deptt. other measures may also be decided as & when required.
L. Termination of Training Registration
The training registration of a candidate will be terminated or cancelled
after due warning if
1 The attendance falls below 75 % in academic sessions,
2 Performance in Academic is shown to be poor repeatedly on internal
assessment,
3 Ward / clinical work is unsatisfactory,
4 There is long absence from duty /studies without sanctioned leave,
5 Training fee & other dues are not paid in prescribed time,
6 Gross misconduct and /or indiscipline etc.
In all such cases the deposits will be forfeited as per rules. Providing
wrong information or false documents will be treated similarly. The
decision of the authorized committee on the matter will be final and
binding.
M. Revision of Rules: -
The candidates will have to follow the rules and regulations of the
institution as revised and as applicable from time to time.
