Nursing is essentially a profession of dedication, faith, courage and love
for humanity. To be successful in this profession one should have certain
qualities, viz. sound physical health, courage, honesty, emotional maturity
and above all compassion to serve. However, these qualities and many more
can be developed and nurtured during the training. It depends on the
individual to benefit from the opportunities to develop talent, personality
and character for becoming an efficient nurse and useful member of the
society.
The decision to take up nursing as a career should be made by careful and
intelligent planning so that candidate shall have personal and professional
satisfaction and contribute effectively to the society and the profession.
Choithram College of Nursing runs basic B.Sc. Nursing course of Four Years
duration and also Masters in Nursing, Two Years Post Graduate Course. Both
the courses are affiliated to Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalaya- Indore and
recognised by Indian Nursing Council and State Nursing Council.
In B.Sc.Nursing, annual intake of students is 60, which is going to be
increased to 100 from session 2006 where as, in M.Sc.there are 10 seats.
For each specialty 2 candidates will be taken annually. The specialization
areas for masters course are- Medical Surgical Nursing, Paediatric Nursing,
Psychiatric Nursing, Obstetric and Gynaecology and Community Health
Nursing.
For B.Sc.Nursing,
Admission Procedure is as follows:
Eligilibility:
Age for admission 17-25 years.
Only unmarried women candidates should apply.
Candidates seeking admission for B.Sc. Nursing course should have passed
the Higher Secondary Examination(12 Years Course) with Biology, Physics,
Chemistry & English obtaining not less than 50% marks in aggregate of the
above four subjects from the Board of Secondary Education M.P. or any other
Board recognized as equivalent by the Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalaya - Indore.
In case, year 2003 result is not declared, the candidate must mention so in
the application, but she has to produce the mark sheet at the time of
interview.
Basis of Selection:
The selection of the candidate to B.Sc. Nursing course will be made on the
basis of the merit of qualifying examination and selection test, which
includes written test, interview and aptitude tests.
The written test shall be of 2 hours duration and shall contain objective
and subjective type items. The test will be based on senior secondary
school certificate (10+2) syllabus of Physics, Chemistry & Biology, shall
also include items on English comprehension, vocabulary & General
Knowledge.
The selected candidate has to execute a bond to serve Choithram Hospital &
Research Centre for two years.
Hostel facility for the students is free
Session commences in July each year.
CGFNS and IELTS Coaching
Globalization has significantly accelerated the pace of nursing seeking
employment abroad, especially U.S, U.K, and other developed countries. We
cannot stop them from going abroad. With the view to retain them as long as
possible at least till they get their placement, we have planned to start
coaching for CGFNS in collaboration with HealthED Kolkata. We are also
starting coaching for IELTS at our college under the guidance of Mr. Alan
Besterwitch, who had been with British school of languages.
